David W Bayer, Duck Decoy

David W Bayer is an established waterfowl decoy collector, researcher, restorer and carver retired in the Flint Hills town of Council Grove, KS.

David began collecting duck decoys several decades ago while traveling for the US Government. His 300+ collection of decoys range from vintage traditional hunting decoys to contemporary decorative decoys from across North America.

After retirement, David continues to collect, research, restore and carve decoys. His carving style reflects the early 1900’s traditional “working” decoys influenced by Stan Bennett, Tom Taber and the Dodge/Mason Factories.

David is a participating member of the North American Decoy Collectors’ Association and displays his decoys at Prairie PastTimes to inspire newer decoy collectors.
